What is Good Parenting? |
|||||||||
| I never felt
like there was enough out there. There
are magazines and millions of books. All from people
I don't know. And you can never ask any questions. I've always felt
that parenting requires more
immediacy then you can get from the traditional
parenting media of books and magazines.
When Colleen and I found out we were having triplets, there was no doubt, we were scared to death. We always wanted a brother or sister for our first son, Jack, but we never would have imagined we would add this many at once. Though we found there actually are a lot of people out there with triplets, we found it hard to ask them questions, or to even know what to ask. We didn't really know them. I know you don't know me either, but through this show you will get to know me and all about my family. As I say on every show, I'm no parenting expert. We do things wrong every day. But hopefully we do some right too. I think the most important thing is: we want to do right. So we try to learn, and be patient, and ask questions. On this show we talk to the experts about everything. We've already covered hundreds of topics and we're always finding new ones. Every day is an adventure when you're a parent, and every week we hope to learn something new on the radio. You are always welcome to call or email the show. This hour every week is really for you. We want to help you find the answers to your questions, ease your fears, and give you a heads up to things you haven't thought of yet. Our triplets, Michael, Anna, and Tommy just turned a year old. What a crazy year it has been. And their big brother Jack has been an incredible help. For me the best part of this show has been the discussions with you in the "Parent 2 Parent" segments. I know experts know what we need to know, but it's the parent telling me how they got their child to sleep through the night, or eased their child's fears about moving to a new house that really help. Knowing that we are all going through the same problems, and reminding each other that we can get through them. I think that is most important, so we can remember the sheer joy that our kids bring us every day. I look forward to hearing from you. Matt
